Impressive remembrance picture to the German sailor "Johannes Maass" serving on "Kreuzer Karlsruhe" from 1934 until 1936. It was purchased by Maas to commemorate his world travels "Zur Erinnerung an meine Weltreisen".
The picture was most probably purchased in Japan in 1936. It was on his ships route and the construction details are typically Japanese.
An excellent workmanship. Stiched silk. Excellent detail. Even the ship is hand-stiched. It shows a large early NSDAP style eagle as well as the flags of all countries he visited.
Very rare.
Original frame. Including a modern printed "timeline" which can be removed. It is glue to the original backing with just a few small dots.
