Description
Extremely rare grouping to Army Paratrooper Oberfeldwebel Werner Siegel. Siegel was one of the first paratroopers of the Wehrmacht. He was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd and 1st Class, 4 years Long Service Award. Army Paratrooper Badge, Wound Badge in black, the Sudetenland Medal, Ground Assault Badge and the "Sturmflutmedaille (1962). He has served with FJR1 and FJR3 and was serouly insured on 9.9.1943 in Rome, Italy.

Part of the grouping is not only his 1.9.1937 issued certificate for the Army Paratrooper Badge but also the actual badge.
The "Fallschirmschützenabzeichen des Heeres" was instituted on 1.9.1937 and only awarded for a very short period of time.

Juncker, Berlin, made Army Paratrooper Badge in worn condition. C.E. JUNCKER BERLIN SW maker marked. Aluminum. Gilt frame with national eagle, silvered eagle to the center. Period time replaced catch. A plate with catch was added. Please note you can see bolts going through the front of the wreath.
It is the very first pattern made by Juncker. Collectors call it "extended talon" pattern as described on page 440-41 of Durante's "The German Luftwaffe & Heer Paratrooper Badges of World War II".

Blue case of issue featuring gold lettering "Fallschirschützen-Abzeichen" to the top. Known as "Brick pattern No.1". Velvet inlay, silk lining. Opening and closing correctly. Good condition.

13 original photographs including photos of his time as a "Heeresfallschirmjäger" in army uniform wearing the Army Paratrooper Badge. Extremely hard to find! Please note that one portrait photo in army uniform (postcard size) is modern photocopy.

Various period time documents including Army Paratrooper (Stendal base) related ones.
Postwar veteran's association invitation cards and letters.

Interesting Bundeswehr related militaria. Interesting documents, a personal notebook, shooting booklets, his shoulder boards and dog tag as well as ID cards such as his Wehrpaß. The Wehrpaß provides additional information on his service time. He was awarded the "Sturmflugmedaille" for example. Certainly quite interesting is his "Truppenausweis" with an original attached photograph. It is 3.5.1957 issued and lists all awards including his WWII awards!

An incredible rare grouping with much room for additional research!
