Description
This item belonged to Hauptmann H.A., recipient of the German Cross in gold, the Close Combata Clasp in silver and holder of several Tank Destruction Badges in silver. He commanded 14./Gren.Rgt.253 which was part of 34 Infanterie-Division. Hauptmann A. defended a bridge of the Dnepr river with two Assault Guns of 3./Pz.Jäg.Abt.34 allowing the XXIV. Korps to cross the river. This avoided the destruction of 4 Wehrmacht divisions. His commander, Oberst Ferndinad Hippel (commander of 34.Inf.Div.) was awarded the Knight's Cross on the same day: 22.10.1943.
 
Unworn uniform insignia consisting of three officer's breast eagle (one shows corrosion), two pair of officer's collar tabs and two pair of Leutnant shoulder boards.
