Description

Grouping to Feldwebel Martin Gillmann serving with 7./III. Kampfgeschwader 26. Involved in the Allied invasion of Normandy. At a mission on 21. June 1944 his plane "Ju 88 A 17" was shot down. The mission started in Montpellier (France). Including a very interesting report about the events. Written after the war by himself. US POW from 22. June 1944 until 6. May 1946. Detained in Santa Ana Army Air Base, California (USA).

Hauptmann and Staffelkapitän Friedrich-Wilhelm Gehring wrote on 5. July 1944 to his family, that Martin died. On 26. July 1944 he wrote again to the family with the message "Martin lives and he is an English prisoner of war". Both letters original signed by Friedrich-Wilhelm Gehring (German Cross in gold winner).

Promotion document. Issued on 1.12.1942. Promoted to Feldwebel. Signed by a Hauptmann.

A modern reprint of the "Flugbuch" flight log from 8. March 1943 until 10. June 1944 (copy of a crew member).
