Description
This lot was part of a huge grouping consigned by the family of former NSDAP Abschnittsleiter Leander Berger in April 2015. The family is still based in Austria today. Leander Berger was a high ranking NSDAP and DAF leader during the Third Reich and was punished after the war. Leander was one of the first Nazis in Austria in the early 1930s when the Party was still banned there. His NSDAP membership number was 83.215. Berger escaped to Germany and served as Gauhauptstellenwalter der DAF (Gau Thüringen) from 1934 until 1939 before he returned to Austria serving as Gaustellenleiter der NSDAP in Kärnten. He was promoted to a Reichseinsatzredner der RPL by Dr. Goebbels in 1944.

A very early 1930s Nazi photo album of Leander Berger. There are scarce photos of Austrian SA men taken in 1934 when all Nazi organization were banned in Austria. They wearing civil clothes and rifles.  One photo shows an "Überfallwagen vor der Jugoslavischen Grenze! 27.VII. 34".

Another photo shows Hitler visiting injured Austrians. Berger visited the Reichsführerschule der NSBO in Junary 1935 as a photo proofs. There are photos of the Reichstagung der DAF (Leipzig 1935) showing Dr. Robert Ley. One photo shows Max Seunik, Standatenführer Standarte Kärnten, who was killed on 4.6.1933.

Many photos were even taken in 1931, so very very early. There is a very nice showing members of Sturm 50 in 1931 in Klagenfurt. The last photos show Berger in his black DAF uniform.

There are about 108 photos inside. A shame about the photos taken out. The subtitles promised them to be very interesting. They might have been too dangerous for Berger to leave inside after the war.
