This lot was part of a huge grouping consigned by the family of former NSDAP Abschnittsleiter Leander Berger in April 2015. The family is still based in Austria today. Leander Berger was a high ranking NSDAP and DAF leader during the Third Reich and was punished after the war. Leander was one of the first Nazis in Austria in the early 1930s when the Party was still banned there. His NSDAP membership number was 83.215. Berger escaped to Germany and served as Gauhauptstellenwalter der DAF (Gau Thüringen) from 1934 until 1939 before he returned to Austria serving as Gaustellenleiter der NSDAP in Kärnten. He was promoted to a Reichseinsatzredner der RPL by Dr. Goebbels in 1944.
Personal photo album of Leander Berger documenting his travels to Norway with the KdF ship STUTTGART in 1934. He was some sort of a tour guide for all Austrian comrades starting from his area. 94 original photos. Nice personal poem of Berger. He signed "An Bord der Stuttgart am 4.Oct.1934". He most probably bought the empty album on board. Good condition.
