Bavaria - Merit Cross for 1870/71 on the shoulder ribbon for princely owners

Description

Bavarian Cross of Merit for 1870/1871, founded by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, given to "...men, women and maidens who have rendered certain special services in the field of nursing the sick or through other self-sacrificing acts for the benefit of Our Army during the war against France" in the version on the shoulder ribbon for princely holders on a probably later ribbon, this with a black lacquered clasp sewn on the back for hanging (to be worn under the uniform). Except for a minimal crack in the white enamel on the front and a small break in the hoop on the back, the cross, original in all parts, is in quite good condition with old patina. The suspension in the shoulder strap variant. Very good replacement for the original ensemble which is hard to find in the original; only 26 crosses were awarded in this grade.
