M42 two tone sawdust textured spray camouflage combat helmet, « FJR6 »

Description

A truly striking example of a M1942 two tone sawdust textured spray camouflage combat helmet. The helmet is an « ckl66 » with a lot number « 4570 ». The helmet's exterior features the well known Fallschirmjäger Regiment 6 « Normandy » camouflage finish. Period pictures taken in Normandy in 1944 clearly show paratroopers of the FJR6 wearing classic German helmets. A mixture of standard green and tan paint with heavier sawdust. It covers over 98% of the helmets surface. Retains a rough and matte feel. Split pins complete, tightly secure and retain their finish as well. The helmet's interior remains in its untouched and as found state. Leather liner is complete, ink stamped with size « 58 », some flaking along the perimeter and retains its original drawstring. Comes with its original leather chinstrap nicely marked with the « RBNr ». The dome acceptance stamp is present and readable. This exact pattern of camouflage was used by the paratroopers of the Regiment 6 during the Battle of Normandy but also in Holland area after the defeat and ultimate retreat from the Normandy Front in September of 1944. It is a choice example of a « FJR6 » camouflage helmet, true top shelf example in a outstanding condition.
