Heer officer's sabre with a rare Damascus blade. So-called "Schießpreis" to Knight`s Cross winner Walter Klocke. Made by Eickhorn.
The blade etched with gilt ornaments and "Ehrenpreis für hervorragende Schießleistungen 1936 - Oblt. Walter Klocke I.R.35". "
Eickhorn logo under the front langet and "CARL EICKHORN SOLINGEN" on the back of the blade. No damage to the tip.
A black celluloid grip with intact wire wrapping. Small crack. Gilt brass hilt fittings.The leather between the cross guard and the ring is slightly damaged. The front land back langet shows oak leaves. Original black-painted steel scabbard. No dents.
Length: 97 cm.
Slight signs of wear. Very hard to find!
Walter Klocke was awarded the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold as a Major in the Infanterie-Regiment 215 (October 7th, 1942) and later with the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes as commander of the Sturm-Regiment 215 (April 20th, 1944). He was killed on January 18th, 1945, probably as commanding officer of the Sturm-Regiment 215 (78. Volkssturm-Division).
