Description

VIEW DESCRIPTION

ALCOSO, marked sword. The sword has a superbly hand detailed brass pommel with oak leaf embellished knuckle-bow, backstrap, ferrule and crossguard. Obverse langet has two intertwining oak leaf branches and plain reverse langet. Black celluloid grip shows no surface wear with no cracks or chips and with triple twisted brass wire wrap present. Finely etched and engraved, plated blade grades MINT showing no nicks or cuts. The engraving reads: “Dem beaten Schuetzen - Offizierschiessen 1936 - Sch. Pol. Gr. Ost.” Blade is complete steel scabbard retaining approximately 90% of the period black enamel showing loss of paint on carrying ring.
