Grouping to Knight's Cross winner Oberleutnant Heinrich Südel (1920-2011). Südel served as an air gunner and observer with K.G.55 "Greif". He was awarded the German Cross on 5.10.1942 and the Knight's Cross on 23.4.1945. Südel has survived the war and attended to many veteran's meetings. Photos of him taken in modern days are available on the internet. All awards and his dagger & sword were sold to his daughter and were never available on the market before.
Early Luftwaffe sword with tombak metal parts. Blue leather finished handle with intact wire. Matching patina to pommel and cross guard which both come with rests of the original gilding to the swastikas.
Scabbard with unopened screws. Again, matching patina to the fittings. Blue leather with damage (rust, rips, etc...). Including the original Luftwaffe hanger which comes with an old leather loop attached.
Clean unmarked blade.
