BDM Achievement Badge

Description

BDM Achievement Badge in gilded metal on ribbon with unidentifiable makers mark. However it is RZM marked with “M1/“ and awardees number “95879”.

The Bund Deutscher Mädel (BDM) was the female branch of the Hitler Youth (HJ) during the National Socialist period. The girls between the ages of 14 and 18 were organized into it in line with the totalitarian goals of the Nazi regime. There was also in the Hitler Youth the Jungmädelbund (JM) for 10- to 14-year-old girls.

Membership of all young women was mandatory and regulated by law from 1936, unless somebody would be excluded for “racial reasons”. The BDM was the largest female youth organization in the world at the time, with 4.5 million members in 1944.
