Description

Badge of the Freikorps Schulz, made from sheet iron field gray and green lacquer. One of four retaining pins lost.

With the surrender of Germany in November 1918 and the Treaty of Versailles (1919), which provided for a drastic reduction of the Reichswehr, Siegfried Schulz founded the approximately 1000-man "Freikorps Schulz". The unit, which also went by the name "Treubund," was involved in suppressing mass strikes on the Rhine and Ruhr, supporting the Kapp Putsch (1920), and resisting the Franco-Belgian occupation of the Ruhr.
