Japan - Order of the Auspicious Cloud 1st Class

Description

The Order of the Auspicious (or Prosperous) Clouds, was founded in eight classes in parallel to the Japanese order of the rising sun on March 1, 1934, by Emperor Kang Teh of Machuria. Manchukuo (Manchuria) was a puppet state created by Japan in northern China: it existed from 1932 until Japan's defeat in 1945.

This is the highest grade, the 1st class in gilded silver and enamel. Early badge marked “M” for the Japanese mint on the top of the ring loop eylet. This class was only awarded 110 times during its existents and is extremely rare.
