Description

Unique SS sabre awarded to SS-Obersturmführer Johannes Degenhardt as a shooting prize of the "SS-Scharfschützen-Wettkampf 1936". An important piece which was published in "Exploring the dress daggers and swords of the German SS" by Thomas T. Wittmann. Please see last pictures. 

The cross guard shows SS runes. The reverse shows the monogram "LAH". Intact grip with full wire. Hand chiseled lion's head with red eyes.

Etched "SS-Obersturmführer Johannes Degenhardt"  "SS-Scharfschützen - Wettkampf / Berlin - Lichterfelde 1936" to one side and "Leibstandarte SS-Adolf Hitler" to the other side. Etched floral ornaments. HÖRSTER maker marked. 

Scabbard without dents. 

A very rare piece in very nice condition.
