Beautiful and elaborately crafted Art Nouveau pendant with the portrait of a swimming woman.
The translucent areas are very special: This enameling technique is called "plique-á-jour" (French for "letting in daylight"). The enamel is embedded in transparent cells, which gives this particularly nice effect. Most likely a "western version of this technique where parts of the gold have been sawed, cutting out the design. The empty cells have then been filled with enamel powders.
