Description

Rudolf Konrad (1891 - 1964) was a German general in the Wehrmacht during World War II who served as commander of XXXXIX. Gebirgs-Korps. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and, by the end of the war, held the rank of General der Gebirgstruppe.

This 1943 dated aquarelle signed by an unknown artist shows buildings at the river Kuban.

Reichsminister Albert Speer visited this area from 14.-15.6.1943 and Rudolf Konrad presented an aquarelle to him. This painting was maybe some sort of a "study" for the real, maybe larger one. The dedication was simply noted by Konrad with pencil and would have written by the artist on the final painting.

"Dem Herrn Reichsminister Speer zur Erinnerung an seinen Frontbesuch 14.-15.5.43.
Gen.d.Geb.Truppe Kon.

Size: 24,5 x 30cm. Glas to the front and back.
