Description

The decoration for services to the Republic of Austria is the most important state honor that is currently awarded in Austria. It was founded by the National Council with the federal law of April 2, 1952. The various levels are awarded by the Federal President or on his behalf. The decoration in its various levels can be awarded for special merits in all areas, especially in the political, economic, cultural, spiritual or honorary area. Individuals awarded the Badge of Honor are authorized to claim to be its possessor (not its owner).
