Silver gilt Cross with blue enameled arms and flames between the arms of the cross. Black enameled center showing a silver gilt crowned cipher of King Ludwig III within a white enameled border in the form of a buckled belt with silver gilt lettering reading “Merenti”. (From the Latin word "Merit")
Reverse side with a black enameled center showing a silver gilt crowned Bavarian lion within a white enameled border in the form of a buckled belt with silver gilt numbers “1866”.
Cross marked with silver content "950" and "WC" for "Weiss & Co, München". Swords and loop are equally marked along with a "900" mark for the silver content and a crescent moon (loop)
Cross is suspended from an original wartime neck-ribbon. Some stains.
No damage, chipping or repairs. Very nice condition with lovely patina.
