Description
Generalleutnant Josef Lehmann (1888-1971) served as company commander and deputy bataillon commander during WW1 with 15. Bayerisches Infanterie-Regiment. He served with the Reichswehr from 1919-1920 and joined the Bayerische Landespolizei (police) in 1920 where he stay until 1935. In 1935, he served with the Wehrmacht and was later promoted "Befehlshaber der Deutschen Truppen in Holland". He spent service time with the Führer-Reserve and many other units. Lehmann commanded 82. Infanterie-Division from 1939 until 1942. He was captured on 6.5.1945 and released on 6.7.1947.

Silver tray presented to Generalleutnant Lehmann in the Netherlands on 15.5.1942 when leaving 82. Infanterie-Division after commanding it for three years. It is signed by "DER WEHRMACHTSBEFEHLSHABER IN DEN NIEDERLANDEN",  General der Flieger Friedrich Christiansen.
 
"925" silver stamped and marked with half-moon and crown to the front side. There is a third, unknown stamp which could attribute to the maker. The center of the reverse is stamped with a small square. To the rim, it is BEGEER, v. KEMPEN & VOS maker marked. Furthermore, it is numbered.
 
Excellent tray with a fine hand-engraved "drop-tail" Luftwaffe eagle.
 
"DEM KOMMANDEUR DER TRUPPEN DES HEERES HERRN GENERAL LEUTNANT LEHMANN ZUR ERINNERUNG AN SEINE 82. Division. HOLLAND 15. MAI 1942".
