German paratrooper « Fallschirmjäger » green camouflage clip-on helmet cover, first type. This is the rarest German produced helmet cover to find. The helmet cover belonged to a paratrooper wounded in Kreta and was no longer physically qualified to jump. The helmet cover is in overall very good condition. It is an olive green colored thin linen material. The cover shows light combat use. The top cross foliage bands are present, properly sewn and made from a thinner material and smaller width. The helmet cover's interior is properly « 68 » size marked and maker marked. Retains all factory attached clips with two broken ones. The helmet fits on a size 68 helmet. These are always missing even from the top paratrooper and helmet collections around the world. An extremely rare and attractive example making it the centerpiece of any museum or private collection. This helmet cover is one of a total of six known to exist worldwide.
