Description

Generalleutnant of the Luftwaffe Martin Harlinghausen served as commander of the "Seeflieger" (seaplane squadron) on Mallorca during the Spanish Civil War (Legion Condor). For his service, he was awarded the Spanish Cross in Gold with Diamonds. During World War II, he served as Geschwaderkommodore of Kampfgeschwader 26 and was also involved in the campaign in Africa. In the last two years of the war, Harlinghausen commanded the II. Fliegerkorps in the Mediterranean and Luftwaffenkommando West.

An excellent LEGION CONDOR commemorative plaque to Generalleutnant Martin Harlinghausen. Silvered brass plaque. On the front is his name as well as his nickname "Iron Gustav". Dated "1936-1938". Mounted on a blackened wooden board. Size: 14x16.5 cm.
