Description

Rare grouping to Generalleutnant Gustav Sieß (1883-1970). During the First World War, he commanded the submarines U-33 and U-73. 53 merchant ships and 3 warships were sunk and 10 merchant ships were damaged under his command. On April 24, 1918, he was awarded the Pour le Mèrite. He also received the 1914 Iron Cross and the House Order of Hohenzollern. Promoted to  Generalleutnant of the Luftwaffe on April 1, 1944 and retired from military service at the end of the month.

Imperial Germay Navy photo album documenting his service on board the battle cruiser "SMS Molcke" from 1902 until 1903. Also photos were taken on board the protected cruiser "SMS Hansa". Excellent photo material with numerous photos from  international expeditions. Among them is an excellent group photo of Pour le Mèrite winners (taken in the 50/60s). The spine is damaged. Total: 219 photos.

Certificate for the 50th anniversary as Pour le Mèrite bearer. Issued on 24.11.1968 by "Die Ritterschaft des Ordens Pour le Mèrite". 

Including a 5-page document about his military career from 01.04.1902 to 30.04.1944.
