Description

Interesting grouping to Luftwaffe Unteroffizier and later Police Oberwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei Paul Zinser.

As a member of Legion Condor, Zinser took part in the Spanish Civil War with Flak unit 5./F88. He was awarded the Spanish Cross in silver with swords! There are 16 photos including photos of him in Luftwaffe uniform wearing his Spanish Medals and his Spanish Cross in silver with swords! Furthermore, there is a photo of his grave!

Interestingly, his medals are not noted in his Wehrpaß but the grouping is 100% proven by the photo inside his Wehrpaß and the single photos showing him with his Spanish Cross.
The Wehrpaß was issued in 1936 and tells nothing about his police service time. He would have received a police Soldbuch. However, it tells the date and place of his death.

German 3-place "Legion Condor" medal bar with two Spanish medals (Order of Military Merit, Medalla de la Campaña) and the Sudetenland Medal. The bar comes with a matching field ribbon bar. Furthermore, there is his SA Sport's Badge with repaired catch, a ribbon for the Sudetenland Medal as well as a 93 maker marked East Medal.

Most photos were taken during his funeral as a policeman. The right cross on the photo is his grave cross. The photo provides a lot of information to the reverse. He was killed in action on 3.3.1942 near Osemlja, Russia and burried on 11.3.1942 at Shitomir (Nikolajew street). He served with 3. Kompanie of Polizei-Batallion 315.

Polizei-Bataillon 315 was responsible for several war crimes and involved in the killing of 18000 Jews in November 1941 near Rowno. It was later involved in anti Partisan combat together with Infanterie-Regiment 102 South of Bobruisk (Unternehmen Bamberg). "Unternehmen Bamberg" started in February 1942 and ended in 1942. Over 3500 people were killed. Paul Zinser was killed during this campaign.
