Description

This item belogned to Luftwaffe Unteroffizier and later police Oberwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei Paul Zinser. 

Excellent Spanish Cross in silver made by Juncker, Berlin. A very fine example made from real silver. "800" silver marked to the reverse. "CEJ" maker marked. The catch was professionally repaired period time. Juncker itself offered this service for damaged badges.

Paul Zinser was a highly decorated Luftwaffe Legion Condor soldier and served with Polizei-Batallion 315 later in war. Polizei-Bataillon 315 was responsible for several war crimes and involved in the killing of 18000 Jews in November 1941 near Rowno. It was later involved in anti Partisan combat together with Infanterie-Regiment 102 South of Bobruisk (Unternehmen Bamberg). "Unternehmen Bamberg" started in February 1942 and ended in 1942. Over 3500 people were killed. Paul Zinser was killed during this campaign.
