Heer M41 field tunic. Typically designed with vertical pocket bars. Unlike an M36 or M40 pattern, the M41 pattern comes with six instead of five buttons.
Breast eagle: machine-woven. EM/NCO pattern. Attached by hand.
Collar tabs: EM/NCO. Machine-woven. Attached by hand.
Shoulder boards: Missing. Loops replaced.
Sleeve badge: Obergefreiter rank badge. Attached by hand.
Buttons: All buttons complete. Re-attached.
Lining: fine cotton lining
Markings: size stamped. Hard to read.
A small rip near the award loops. Otherwise no damage.
This tunic was period time modified by a tailor due to the personal taste of the owner. Soldiers preferred the more elegant M36 style featuring a dark green collar, dark green insignia and a vertical pocket bar. All modifications were executed period time and definitely prior to 1945.
Modifications like these are quite common and give this tunic a unique touch.
