Description

Family purchased grouping to Stabarzt Hellermann serving with Infanterie-Regiment 122 (50. Infanterie-Division) available on the market for the first time. The grouping came straight of the son of Hellermann who had another brother. What makes this grouping special is not only the Afrikakorps and "Militärärtzliche Akademie" connection: Part of the grouping is an "Arbeitsgau XIX Oldenburg" book which shows Hellermann's brother on the cover! He was chosen for his "Germanic look".

526 photos in total!

Two pair of nicely worn and entirely matching blue piped collar tabs. Two pair of matching shoulder boards for a Stabsarzt. No moth damage. Two nice groups! The insignias can be seen on period time photos part of this grouping.

Worn Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon taken off his tunic which can be seen on period time photos part of this grouping!

Three nicely worn 4 place ribbon bars. One with a German-Italian Campaign Medal ribbon proofing that he served in Afrika. Furthermore, the bars can tell that he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class, the Westwall Medal, the Bulgarian Bravery Cross and the Romanian Anti-Communism Medal.

Wehrmacht uniform buttons and spare rings for a summer tunic. Metal shoulder board ciphers include a pair of unworn "A" ciphers which are extremely rare! "A" stands for "Militärärtzliche Akademie". All prongs in place. All kept in a period time "Stambul" cigarett box (empty) with a national eagle with swastika stamped to the seal.

Personal military glasses inside the original "Dienstbrille" case named to "Herrn Ludgar Hellermann, FJ. Truppenteil: Mil. Ärtzl. Akademie". 1937 dated to the inside paper.

RAD book "Arbeitsgau XIX Oldenburg" with Hellermann's brother Meinulf on the cover! Well illustrated. Furthermore, a letter of his old commander (RAD 7/317) sent with the book. Beside the RAD book, there is a well-illustrated book "Die militärärtzliche Akademie 1934 - 1945" part of the grouping. Hellermann is mentioned inside!

Impressive and comprehensive photo grouping containing 526 original photos and some negatives! Hellermann served in Afrika, Ukraine (Krim), Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Russia, etc...

Quite a few pictures photos show Hellmann in his Afrikakorps tunic! The are Generals shown on the photos, Hermann Göring, fighter ace Werner Mölders. A note on the back says the Hellermann himself had taken the photo of Mölders asking him if it was ok.

Another photo shows Mölders on a radio car. Hellermann describes (reverse) that Mölders saw an enemy aircraft squadron at this moment. 2 minutes later, he had his fighter ready! There is another photo of Mölders and he describes that he had some conversation with him on 23.10.41.

Hellermann must have served with III./Inf.Rgt.122 (50. Infanterie-Division) for a long time. Unit information can be seen on the photos or written to the reverse. His Afrikakorps unit is unknown to us.

What makes his photo grouping really special are the information written to the reverse of the pictures by him providing very detailed information on his service time and unit history worth writing a book!
