This group contains a zinc based badge by C.E.Juncker in Berlin. The badge is in near mint condition and retains all of its silver plating. Absolute stunning badge. Almost would pass as the extremely rare and early brass badge.
The recipient, Friedrich Schulz, received the badge on November 1, 1943, as private 1st class serving in the 2./Heeres-Flak-Art.Abt. 293. Original ink signature and stamp. He also was awarded the frozen meat medal on Setember 1, 1942, the general assault badge on April 25, 1943, the Iron Cross 2nd Class on August 27, 1943 and the wound badge in black on September 21, 1943. There is also his ID card for the German “Jungvolk”, his SA ID card and receipt card for the same membership as well as his deregistration certificate from the SA as he went to the German Army in 1941. Also his personal ID card from after the war and a single artillery shoulder board with lace indicating him being earmarked for an officers career.
The Army Flak Artillery Battalion 293 was set up on November 1, 1942 in Military District VI. The detachment was formed from parts of the disbanded Fla Battalion 613. The department was set up as an army force of 3 batteries. After the formation, the department was transferred to the east. There the detachment was deployed in Central Russia. From February 1, 1943, the department was assigned to the 78th Assault Division. The department was destroyed under this in June 1944 at Army Group Center. In December 1944 the department was re-established as Heeres Flak Artillery Department 293. After the establishment of the 90th Panzer Grenadier Division, the new department was placed under its command. Under this the department was then used in Italy.
