Description

Early M41 pattern field cap. Worn by Heer troops of the Afrikakorps. An example issued as an EM/NCO pattern which was period time promoted in the field to be an officer's pattern.

The owner added white twisted cord due to the lack of a silver bullion cap. Furthermore, the brown EM/NCO insignia were taken off and more officer's like insignia were added by machine. A machine-woven silver-wire cap eagle as well as a Luftwaffe cockade.

Linen: typical red color linen lining
Size stamp: "57"
Maker's mark: CARL HALFA BERLIN N20
Date: "1940"

Grommets: two zinc grommets to each side. Corroded.
Red soutache for artillery troops.

A clearly worn "salty" piece! Rare!
