Description

Important ink autograph of the only foreign soldier ever awarded the Knight's Cross with Swords: Isoroku Yamamoto (1884 - 1943), Marshal Admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy and the commander-in-chief of the Combined Fleet during World War II. He was the commander-in-chief during the early years of the Pacific War and oversaw major engagements including the attack on Pearl Harbor and the Battle of Midway.

Ink autograph on card with pasted printed picture cut out of a newspaper. 1935 dated

A letter from Fritz Rösch to the Japanese Embassy dated 1955 asking for photos of Yamamoto and Koga without success.

Another letter dated 1960 sent from the German embassy in Tokyo to Rösch stating the private addresses of both widows. 

A period time newspaper article about the death of Yamamoto. 

Provenience: Collection Fritz Rösch (autograph collector since shortly after WWII)
Sold at Axel Schmolt Auctions in 2005.
