Very rare WWII period time M42 helmet shell which was worn by Finish troops of "Kev Os 4" unit. Original photos of soldier wearing such a German helmet with a white skull painted to the front side are available on the internet.
German M42 helmet shell with original matching rivets. Liner missing. Shell NS62 maker marked.
A white skull and two bars are painted to the front side. Original khaki painting remaining.
According to the information of the consignor, this helmet was overpainted with black paint after the war for service in the fire brigade.
A collector found the helmet and painted in grey again leaving the black color in place. In 2016, the grey and black paint was removed and the original color with skull was discovered. It was professionally removed without leaving damage.
