Beßler, a Legion Condor veteran, served as a pilot and had enemy missions in Africa and Russia. 47 in total and endless transport missions without enemy contact. While his exact unit is unknown to us, we know he was a member of the Sonderverband 288. Part of his grouping was an unworn unit sleeve badge. His granddaughter stated that he was in El Alamain as he told her.
