Heer M40 field tunic

Description

A fantastic Heer M40 field tunic which came directly of the veteran's estate. It has never been available on the market before. The second pattern tunic which was issued to the Heer was designed with a grey green color and five buttons.

This tunic was period time modified by a tailor due to the personal taste of the owner. Soldiers preferred the more elegant M36 style featuring a dark green collar, dark green insignia and a vertical pocket bar. All modifications were executed period time and definitely prior to 1945.
Modifications like these are quite common and give this tunic a unique touch.

Breast eagle: Machine-woven officer's / NCO's type period time attached by hand.
Collar tabs: Machine-attached period time. Traces/seems of tabs attached before the promotion can be seen.
Shoulder boards: Slip on boards for an infantry Unteroffizier serving with Inf.Rgt.186.

All medals and awards are still attached to the tunic!
A shooting lanyard is still attached as well as ribbons for the Iron Cross and the Bulgrian Bravery Cross. A Heer 4 years Long Service Award ribbon bar is attached through the cloth.

1939 Iron Cross 1st Class on screw-back. Brass core. Unmarked.
A zinc Infantry Assault Badge and silver and Wound Badge in silver (30 marked) are attached with clearl signs of wear to the tunic. Original loops.

Furthemore, a nice Krim Shield comes originally atached to the left sleeve.

Lining. Cotton
Stamps: size stamps and a "40" dated. Maker's mark hard to read: "Lago ......"
Buttons: Period time attached. A few period time replaced for size reason.

Including an earlier portrait photo of the owner of the tunic as a Gefreiter. Dated 1944. That means this tunic was worn very late in the war.

Fantastic condition 1. Untouched!
