Personal Heer Waffenrock "parade tunic" of Knight's Cross recipient Oberleutnant Günter Zieger (1919 - 1970). Zieger was awarded the Knight's Cross as an Assault Gunner on 8.2.1944. Typical design with dark green collar and cuffs. No pockets.

"Awarded while his assault gun battalion was attached to the 112. Infanterie-Division. Following fierce defensive action northeast of Bolchov, the division had to retreat to Karachev to avoid being overrun and destroyed. The attached assault guns succeeded in keeping the Soviet armoured spearheads at bay until the German infantry had successfully retreated and was ready for further action. Zieger and his company were particularly successful in these rearguard actions, and he was recognized appropriately."

Loops for several awards as well as a ribbon bar. He had worn a crew back Iron Cross 1st Class as you an see by a small hole and the shadow of the screw-back to the inside.
There are some threads left on the inside of the collar! He might have worn his Knight's Cross there as he certainly got some days off to present his Knight's Cross at the home front. After his visit, he simply ripped the ribbon off.

Minor moth bites. Generally quite nice condition with some signs of wear and age.
