FEATURES
It is a cylindrical jar with a removable lid, lacquered on the outside and on the inside to prevent oxidation; inside, a layer of pleated cardboard was placed to prevent shocks to the filter itself. The lid was sealed to the body of the container with an adhesive tape that prevented contact with the outside air.
MANUFACTURERS
Manufacturers were unknown until now. Sometimes the manufacturer logo is found on the bottom.
METHOD OF WEARING
From summer to autumn 1915, the new Linienmaske (line gas mask) began to be distributed to German soldiers on the Western Front. It was stored inside a larger tin can, without the filter fitted, while the two replacement filters were stored in two separate tins. The three cans together were stored inside the canvas bag which the soldier carried on his belt or over his shoulder by means of the bread bag strap.
