Description

Schmidt was a Reserve Captain and Commander of the mob. Bahnhofskommandantur saechs. 387. He accumulated the several order decorations and medals during his time of active duty and wore them proudly on this medal bar. The bar is accompanied by several iterations of ribbon bars from different progressions in time as well as a few boutonnieres and miniatures. A military related letter and a quotation by the “Deutscher Offizier-Verein” for a miniature chain complete the group that was preserved in an old but never shipped “Feldpostbrief” carton.

The medal bar consists of the following items starting with the Saxon Albert Order, Knight’s Cross 1st Class with swords in gold and enamel with silver gilt swords, unfortunately a minor chip in the blue enamel on the 3 o’clock position of the reverse of the medallion ring, followed by the Prussian Iron Cross 2nd class, 1914, the Waldeck House Order 4th class with swords in silver and enamel, the Austrian War Merit Cross III. Class with War Decoration in silver and enamel, the Austrian Red Cross Honor Cross II. Class with War Decoration in silver and enamel, some minor surface chipping of the laurel and oak leaves of the war decoration itself and finally the Saxon Long Service Cross for Reservist Officers for 20 years of long service. The Bar is terminated with blue felt and complete needle system. Some moth damage to the felt.

Besides an additional Austrian War Merit Cross III. Class with War Decoration in silver and enamel on Austrian style ribbon there are 4 ribbon bars showing the progress of his military career during WWI, 5 matching boutonnieres as well as a miniature for the Saxon Long Service Cross as well as an earlier awarded Long Service bar.

Fantastic group in great condition.
