Description

This set was never available on the market before!

Three-part construction. Iron core. Original black paint. "V" (unknown) maker marked to the ring. With a blue packing paper. "S.&W." marked to the front. Including a one-place medal bar. All in a civilian box. To the bottom of the box is written: "Eisernes Kreuz - Johann Stoiber - 6.Ers.Inf.Rgt. - 7.Comp. - in den Kämpfen in Flandern - Juli 17".

A nice set in good condition.

King Frederick William III of Prussia initially created the Iron Cross as a military decoration on March 17, 1813, during the Napoleonic Wars. The Iron Cross was also awarded during the Franco-Prussian War (1870), World War I (1914), and World War II (1939).

The Iron Cross was usually a military decoration only but awarded to civilians for performing military functions in a few instances.
