Description

King Wilhelm II of Wuerttemberg decided in December 1914 to create a decoration in honor to his wife that was supposed to awarded after the won war. The Cross was awarded during the Great War however for various meritorious deeds. Two variations were coined by the Stuttgart Mint and awarded from its official creation date, January 5, 1916, to the end of the war. Type I was a cross made from 800 silver content that was coined in a total number of 5907 examples. Type II was only 500 silver content and was coined in a number 14609 examples. Here the rare Type I cross made with higher silver content.

Very nice example in case of issue with the Mint’s manufacturer’s label inside the lid of the case as well as a name tag on the outside bottom of the case for a recipient named: “S. Mansunta”.

Fantastic condition with original unworn ribbon.
