Stanislaus II Augustus Poniatowski, King of Poland created the Order of the Knights of Saint Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr on May 7, 1765, to honor the service to the King. After the partition of Poland, the order was renewed in the Duchy of Warsaw in 1807. Since 1815 in the Polish (Congress) Kingdom, the order, originally in a single class, was retained and divided into four classes. In 1831 after the downfall of Poland during the November Uprising, the order was incorporated into the Chapter of Russian Orders as part of the honors system of the Russian Empire by Emperor Nicholas I of Russia. In 1839, the Russian Order of Saint Stanislaus received new statutes, including granting status of nobility on its recipients in all three classes. As a result of the Russian Revolution 1917, activities were suspended by the Soviet Union.
Exceedingly rare and almost mint conditioned 1st class badge for non-Christians with original tailored sash. Very minor chip in one of the tips of the cross arms.
