Description

Grouping to Obergefreiten Johann Maier serving with NSKK-Motorsturm 51/M 99 and Infanterie-Regiment 524. Part of the 297. Infanterie-Division (destroyed in Stalingrad). 

Certificates to Infantry Assault Badge in Silver, Wound Badge in Black, and 1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class. Awarded for his service during the Battle of Stalingrad. The Iron Cross certificate was signed by Generalleutnant Max Pfeffer, Knight's Cross winner. He surrendered to the Soviet forces at the conclusion of the Battle of Stalingrad in 1943.

Heer Wehrpass. Issued on 13.01.1939. Original applied photo. His units are listed on page 12. Awards: 1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class, Infantry Assault Badge in Silver, and East Medal. Campaign list from 11.05.1940 until 18.09.1943. Noted on page 32.

1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class with the original ribbon. Iron core.

Infantry Assault Badge in Silver. The catch has come off the badge but is still there.

Wound Badge in Black.

His death card. Obergefreiter Maier died on 30.09.1942 due to his wound of 18.09.1942 in Stalingrad.
