A very nice and extremely rare MP38u40 magazine pouch. Typical and textbook manufactured pouch by the firm « Friedrich Offerman u. Soehne, Lederwarenfabrik, Bensberg », using later the three letters code « DKK ». Early-war construction from two different types of material. Base material being a heavy blue canvas and the flaps being in tan canvas. The front of the pouch features grey web straps with metal tips and aluminum rivets. This maker is known for that feature along with the rectangular stitching on the retaining loops. Belt loops are in grey web material. Two of the flaps are nicely blue ink-stamped, one with the maker's details and the date « OFFERMANN BENSBERG 1939 », which is the first time seen on a MP38u40 pouch, so this pouch was probably issued with the MP38, and the other one with the Waffenamt. This is most probably the earliest factory MP38u40 pouch produced, this is the only « 1939 » dated example known in collection. In unissued condition.
