Description

Theodor "Theo" Friedmann was born on 20. September 1903 in Fürth (Bavaria). On 1. April 1922 he joined the Bavarian Army and serving with 7. (bayerisches) Artillerie-Regiment. He continued his military service with the Wehrmacht and was the Kommandeur of Artillerie-Ersatz-Abteilung 40 (Bautzen) and I./Artillerie-Regiment 156. Awarded with Knight's Cross on 15. August 1940 and German Cross in gold on 30. November 1941. Killed in action on 10. January 1942 at Roslavl, Russia. Hauptmann Friedmann was posthumously promoted a Major.

The photo album mainly documents the Artillerie-Offiziers-Lehrgang (training course) at the Kriegsschule Dresden from 6. November until 2. December 1939. The last pages of the album start with the title "Ritterkreuz-Parade in Vérigny" (Knight's Cross Parade in Vérigny). Dated "Frankreich 1940". Including one photography where he wears the Knight Cross. Lettered "am 22.8.1940 durch General von Haase erhalten". The Knight's Cross was awarded to him on 22.08.1940 by General von Haase. This shot with Knight's Cross should be very rare if not unique.

The first page of the photo album with some original signatures. Probably of officers who participated in the artillery training course. Roughly 225 photographs in the album as well as 21 loose. Partially lettered.

Furthermore one crafted signpost. Lettering "Befehlstelle Friedmann" to both sides. An artillery gun with a metal flag to the top of the sign. "K. JÜRICH" marked and dated "40" (1940). Made from wooden. Two-piece construction. Signs of use.

Width: 75 cm. Height: 54.5 cm.

A nice grouping.

Good condition 2.
