Description

This is a unique and super rare M1935 Lufwaffe sand textured camouflage helmet with a field made rubber foliage band system. The helmet is an « NS66 » with a lot number of « D243 ». The helmets exterior remains in its untouched and undisturbed state. The exterior of the helmet was first camouflaged with a coat of dark grey paint mixed with sand, both Luftwaffe and National decals can be seen under the camouflage. Later the helmet was equipped with a field made and period applied rubber foliage band system. The field made foliage band system is made from several tick sections of rubber. The bands are riveted together and hooked to the helmet in three sections with larger metal hooks. The foliage system shows nice patina and nice age being original to the helmet since the war. The helmet's interior is in very good shape. The leather liner is in good supple condition and retains its original drawstring. The original early chocolate brown leather chinstrap is present, maker marked and dated, also marled with the Luftwaffe acceptance marking « L.B.A. ». It is also nicely named in white paint along the dome « Pöllath ». This helmet was originally found in the Belgian Ardennes in the 1970’s and stayed in the same collection for the next 45 years. Overall a great and unique combat helmet.
