A superb and rare USM1 front seam fixed bale medic four panel helmet. The helmet's exterior features four nicely hand painted Red Cross panels. As visible on the detailed pictures below, the markings were painted twice. After a period of use, the shell was repainted in a thick coat of green and then new Red Cross panels painted. They all show nice matte paint and the right wear giving this helmet a very pleasing look. A laundry number has been painted on the top of the helmet « R-257232 ». The paint on the exterior rates well over 90%. The helmet shell retains a pair of early web chinstraps retaining their early brass hardware. The helmet comes with a very nice liner. The interior is untouched, in its original state, missing the neck band. Chinstrap is complete and present as well. A rather very difficult helmet to find and very desirable in this outstanding condition.
