VIEW DESCRIPTION

KDF (Kraft Durch Freude) Neckless consisting of flags from various nations. Interwoven the ship’s name “Monte Rosa” and the name “Ingrid Horn”. Passengers were able to buy those customized jewelry during cruises.

MS "Monte Rosa" was a passenger ship that was handed over to the German shipping company Hamburg-Südamerikanische Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft, Hamburg in 1931. The ship was built number 492 at the shipyard Blohm & Voss in Hamburg , and after the handover was put into service between Hamburg and South America . After 1933, MS "Monte Rosa" was chartered as a KdF ship ( Kraft durch Freude ), and sailed in this role until the outbreak of World War II, when she was requisitioned by the German Kriegsmarine.

Interesting memento from the beginning of what’s known today as vacation.
