A German M40 helmet. A wartime type of helmet issued to Heer, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, Polizei and Waffen-SS troops. This example shows a rather blue paint and was most probably worn by a Luftwaffe soldier. 

Paint: Blue-grey factory painted with a rare original wartime fieldmade "splotch" camouflage scheme, the paint has weathered in time.

Decals: none

Lining: Flexible leather lining, still soft with an original cord. Size "55" stamped. The prongs are tight. Shell, liner and prongs belong together.

Chinstrap: Original late war chinstrap, maker & year marked: ftb 44. Leather is still flexible.

Markings: Q62 - T595 - The liner is named twice. 

Further details: The helmet has two small holes for unknown reasons.
