Description

Imperial German Navy officer's sabre to Vizeadmiral Kurt von dem Borne (1885-1946). German Cross in Silver winner on 31. July 1944. 

A three-sided etched blade showing nice ornaments and naval motifs. Made by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen. Stains on both sides. 

Gold-plated brass handle fittings with a lion's head pommel. It has two inserted glass eyes. White handle with intact wire wrapping. No chipping. The folding guard bears the emblem of the Imperial German Navy. His name "v. d. Borne" is engraved on "small" guard on the reverse (engraved in the 30/40s).

Black leather scabbard with gilt brass fittings. It has a few small dents and the lower fitting is loose (the clip is missing). Comes with the original sabre hangers, the so-called "Peitschengehänge" ("whip hangers").

Traces of wear. Good condition 2.
