Description

Kriegsmarine officer's dagger made by Carl Eickhorn.

Handle:
The handle has multiple cracks which is not unusual for these Eickhorn grips as they were made with a wooden core, coated with a thin white plastic layer that becomes brittle over the years.
Gilt brass pommel and cross guard with the original brown cloth buffer pad attached.

Blade:
Clean double-sided etched blade showing fine ornaments and naval motifs.
The backside of the blade bears the stamped 1936 Eickhorn logo on the ricasso.

Scabbard:
The typical Eickhorn fittings and "lightning" scabbard made of gilt brass.

Portepee:
Gold gilt silver wire naval portepee shows wear at the cross guard location.

Hangers:
Composite hangers. Clip piece with chain has been replaced with a post war rectangle shaped piece. Unmatching lion heads. Gold gilt aluminium fittings. Working snap clips.
