This is a really nice, really clean example of the 1933 Gau München badge. It’s a great strike, with lots of detail. The metal, which appears to be bronzed copper, has taken on a lovely dark color with age. The 1933 Gau München badge was a commemorative award for the Munich district of the Nazi party. The center of this badge features a large mobile swastika emblem with the date, 1933. Surrounding this swastika is a finely sculpted wreath of oak leaves, wrapped with a banner reading “Und Ihr Habt Doch Gesiegt” (And yet you have triumphed), a reference to the participants of the failed putsch of 1923. The back of the badge is also clean, with the original and still-functional pin.
