Title translates as “To the obscurantists of our time. A Response to the Attacks Against ‘The Myth of the 20th Century.’” This was Rosenberg’s response to the critics of his massively popular work, “Myth of the 20th Century.”

Alfred Ernst Rosenberg (born December 31, 1892 in Reval ; executed October 16, 1946 in Nuremberg) was a politician and leading ideologue of the Nazi party at the time of the Weimar Republic and during National Socialism. As a student he witnessed the revolution in Moscow in 1917. Under the influence of Russian emigrants, he interpreted these as the result of a Jewish/Masonic world conspiracy. With this idea, he later significantly shaped the ideology of the NSDAP. From 1920 onwards, Rosenberg contributed significantly to the intensification of anti-Semitism in Germany with numerous racial ideological writings. During the Second World War, he and his task force Reichsleiter Rosenberg (ERR) undertook raids throughout Europe, in particular for the theft of cultural assets .

As Reich Minister for the Occupied Eastern Territories, he pursued the project of Germanizing the occupied Eastern Territories with simultaneous systematic extermination of the Jews as part of his “Ostpolitik”. Rosenberg was indicted at the Nuremberg Trials of the Major War Criminals, found guilty on all four counts, sentenced to death, and executed.
